It was cheap and always near a subway so almost every musician in New York went through Giant at one time or another.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>From big bands like\u00a0<strong>Machito\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Paquito D\u2019Rivera\u00a0<\/strong>to solo drummers like\u00a0<strong>Mike D.<\/strong>from the\u00a0<strong>Beastie Boys<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Keith LeBlanc<\/strong>\u00a0from\u00a0<strong>Sugar Hill Records<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Tackhead<\/strong>. From bands who were to just learning how to play to famous artists like\u00a0<strong>Astrud Gilberto,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Jaco Pastorius<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Rob Zombie\u00a0<\/strong>and others.\u00a0<strong>The Monkees<\/strong>\u00a0had their first reunion at the 38th st. studio (well 3 of them). \u00a0Just about all of the NYC hardcore scene practiced at the studios.\u00a0<strong>Agnostic Front<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Sick of it All<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Cro-Mags<\/strong>\u00a0and others. Home of the infamous NYC Scum rock scene also. Master teachers like\u00a0<strong>Montego Joe<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Michael Carvin<\/strong>.
